Quarterback Training Testimonials

Coach Haglan is one of the best coaches I’ve ever had. His laid back style creates a comfortable environment, yet he still manages to get your maximum effort in every rep in every drill. His knowledge of the game is second to none. Playing division one football, and coaching at both the high school and collegiate levels makes Coach Haglan one of the most experienced quarterback coaches around. Coach is also very adaptable, he won’t teach the opposite of what your coach says, only improve your game in that system. Coach Haglan is a big reason that I am able to continue my passion for football at the collegiate level.

To all young Quarterbacks interested in the highest quality instruction…Having known and worked with J.D. Haglan in various coaching capacities for more than 25 years, I can say his QB knowledge and passionate teaching abilities have always had a positive impact on players.  From working around QB coaches at the NFL, CFL and NCAA level, J.D Haglan’s coaching style and communication skills are comparable to any.  He will leave no stone unturned while finding nuggets of information that will make a difference for the athlete.  Players have always benefitted from his organization and thorough style.  He will care about the athlete’s best interest and future success on and off the field. And besides having outstanding QB coaching and teaching skills, he is one of the most genuine people I’ve ever been around.

Coach Haglan,

From the first day we met, when you told me that I needed to get bigger and stronger, you have inspired me to be the best that I could be.  My mother trusted you with a young fatherless boy who, himself, didn’t truly know what life was outside of the crime infested projects where he was being raised.  The only thing this kid knew was how to play football.  As time passed, and our relationship grew, I began to learn what the meaning was of being a man.  What I learned from you, outside of football, I can never repay you.  I sometimes think of how grateful I was of having you in my life and often think that my children should thank you because without you I would never have become the father that I am to them.  Not only have you’ve been the best coach I’ve ever played for, you have been the best person I’ve known in my life.  I’m forever grateful.

Love Always,

M. Warfield

Coach Haglan is a great quarterback instructor and motivator.  His knowledge of the essentials of the QB position is evident in his focus on mechanics and attention to detail.  His workouts are filled with various drills that help in every area of the position from throwing motion to footwork.  Coach Haglan also understands the importance of building confidence and inspiring young men to accel and reach their potential.  He is always very encouraging.  My son always enjoys working out with Coach Haglan.  He has helped him tremendously in developing his skill and confidence as a QB and a leader during middle school and will continue to help him in high school as well.

Anyone looking for a top notch QB trainer should look no further.  Coach Haglan is by far the most technical, experienced, and talented QB trainer I have ever been around.  Being through many camps, combines, and practices with college coaches it is easy to see Coach Haglan is second to none.  I have worked with coach for the past 4 years (2 in High School, 2 as a D1 college athlete) and will continue to work with him throughout my 3 upcoming seasons.  If it was not for Coach Haglan I can honestly say I don’t think I’d be playing ball at the highly competitive level I am today.  I have made tremendous improvements in my footwork, throwing mechanics, pocket awareness, coverage reads, and overall have made my football I.Q. sky rocket.  He is a Coach who is willing to work with all ages, and will push to get the  best results possible.  He has made my game improve on the field but even more importantly has changed me into a better man off of the field. I would recommend Coach Haglan to any Quarterback who is looking to take their game to a whole other level.

I had the opportunity to play QB for Coach Haglan for five years at Catawba College.  As a freshman, I was amazed at how little I knew about playing quarterback.  He had to start from scratch with me and teach the very basic fundamentals from stance, passing mechanics, and drops, to coverage recognition and read progressions.  He also taught me why it is so important for a QB to be a leader.  Since graduating from Catawba in 1994, I have coached QB’s on the high school level.  The skills and techniques he taught me are the same I use to teach my players.  His passion for seeing his players succeed and his willingness to go the extra mile to make sure they do, is an inspiration to me as a coach to do the same with my players.  I was a better QB because of Coach Haglan and I am a better coach because of him as well.  I highly recommend Coach Haglan to any QB wanting to improve at both the physical and mental aspects of playing the position.

I’ve known J.D. Haglan since 1985.  He was a very highly recruited Quarterback out of the hotbed-Western PA!  We worked together at Clemson as Graduate Assistants and his hobbies were watching film and studying techniques of football.  He went to coordinate the offense and coach Quarterbacks at Richmond County when he finished at Clemson.  J.D. was the Offensive Coordinator at Catawba College and became the Head Coach.  One of the reasons I went there to coach in 1990 was J.D. Haglan.  He is very smart and a stickler for details.  I love J.D. Haglan and he is a blessing for kids.  If you have a son who has potential to be a Quarterback…get them with J.D.!  He will love ’em up and help ’em up!

If you want to improve your overall fundamentals at the quarterback position and learn the little details that will turn the average player into a player that can lead his team to the game winning touchdown, Coach Haglan is the coach you’re looking for.  I was coached by Coach Haglan for four years and have shared many of the same principles with our quarterbacks for the past twenty years.  I consider Coach Haglan to be one of the top QB coaches in the country.  He’s not only knowledgeable about the quarterback position, but he also has the ability to teach the fundamentals and leadership required of the position.  That separates him from most.

JD has been a mentor and leader in the life of our son, Lake.  Coach has contributed to Lake’s growth in the sport of football, as his personal quarterback coach for more than 6 years.  Additionally, Coach Haglan has greatly contributed to Lake’s growth in becoming a responsible young man and helping mold him as a leader, on and off the field.

Coach has highly impressed us with his acute attention to detail, in the mechanics/techniques of the QB position.  Even the ever so slight adjustments have brought about real time improvement.  If there was has been a need for a tweak or additional time and attention spent on a specific area in training, JD always adapted to Lake’s needs.  When those adjustments were needed, they became top priority.  When he needed help in reading defenses, he adapted to Lake’s needs, right away.  The outcome always met or exceeded expectations.

Coach Haglan has worked with Lake since beginning middle school.  We leaned on him more as he faced the bigger challenges of high school football, including a season ending injury as a junior.  Coach was right there the entire time, checking in, encouraging and coaching him up, through his healing time and on through to accomplish a personal best, and a record-breaking senior year; a conference championship; and 2nd round playoffs.  This would not have been possible without the additional expertise, encouragement, and leadership Coach Haglan provided.

We highly recommend Coach JD Haglan to train your QB, you will gain not only a highly respected, top-notch trainer and coach, but a great life-long friend, as well.  We know he will always be a part of Lake’s life, and for that we are eternally grateful.

  1. My son Jacob who is twelve years old spent this past summer and fall working with Coach JD. I can’t say enough how much my son learned from coach when it came to foot work and the small aspects of the position that only a Quarterback would know. My son’s team went undefeated this fall in a large part again to Coach who besides teaching the position but also taught my son how to lead his team and how to trust in him. I will continue to work with Coach hopefully till my son graduates from High School. Thanks again for all you did for my son.

  2. Joe Gaither, 12 years old started working out with Coach JD this past Summer getting ready for his 6th Grade Varsity Football Season. As a Father, I was seeking out a QB Coach that could teach Joe the foot work needed in and outside the pocket along with Proper Passing Techniques to avoid turnover ratio for the New Season. Let me tell you that Coach JD Haglan is a fundamental coach and pays Attention to details very closely. Coach JD made the necessary changes in some bad habits and continues to work with Joe as we head into the Middle School level next year.

Joe led his Team @ QB this Year to an Undefeated Season with an amazing 25 TD passes and 1 Int over 9 games.

What a difference Coach JD has made in Joe’s Confidence & Maturity on and off the field of play.

Joe will continue to work closely with Coach JD as he furthers his football career.

It is with High Regards that I recommend Coach JD Haglan to teach your Son the fundamentals of how to become successful @ the QB Position and the Game of Life.

    Best Regards,

    Jody C. Gaither

  3. I always wanted to be the quarterback, but in my early years of playing football I only got to do it a couple of times. Starting my 9th grade football season, I decided to give it one more try. I started working out with Mr. Haglan to see if I had what it takes to be a quarterback. Mr. Haglan worked with me and showed me more about the position than I ever new. His commitment to his students is 110% always finding ways to improve his students. Mr. Haglan will teach you the game on the field and off the field on what it takes to become a great leader. Due to his training I was able to take my role as a QB this season when I was called up to help my team in the 2013 season. Dreams do come true and I will be working with Mr. Haglan getting ready for the next season.

    Thank You,

  4. Coach Haglan is a great teacher and motivator for quarterbacks. He has a great understanding of offensive football and is able to develop the proper skills for young players. J.D. has transformed my oldest son (Josh) from a running-back into a quarterback during the summer of Joshua’s upcoming sophomore season. Prior to the sophomore season Josh never played the quarterback position at any level of football. Along with working with Josh, J.D. is also working with my younger son Cole. Coach Haglan has given my son’s the tools to excel on and off the football field. JD’s advanced quarterback concepts and strategies are taught without regard to a player’s age. The young men are taught to be leaders on the field and to always do their best. I highly recommend any potential young quarterback to receive training by the best quarterback teacher in the region.

  5. Since my son was 8 years old he has been playing organized football. He has always played quarterback and at age 11 needed more training to be ready at the Middle and High school level. After working with other QB trainers and about to go into his freshman season at Mooresville I realized he needed more than what he was receiving. We found that extra coaching and training with Coach JD. He improved Kenneth’s footwork, technique and overall quarterback skills. With Coach JD’s training It helped Kenneth earn the starting quarterback position on the Mooresville JV football team. Coach JD made himself available during the season to work with Kenneth to fine tune his mechanics so that he would be confident and ready for his Thursday night games. Kenneth from the start was very comfortable working with Coach JD and always eager to schedule the next session because he could see Coach JD’s drills and training were making an impact on his game. We look forward to continuing to have our son train with Coach JD.

    Thank you,

    Bill and Laura Nusser

  6. I met Coach Haglan quite some time ago. I was recommended to bring my son Luke whom at the time was 8 and was QB of the JV Broncos. My first coaching session with my son with JD was a complete eye opening for both my son and I, It was quite clear how little my son and I knew about the position. They worked on fundamentals as well as technical aspects of playing the QB position, but most importantly he taught Luke about having a positive work habit and to always be confident in what you do. Luke is now 10 and this past football season JD and I coached the JV Broncos that had only 4 kids to ever put pads on, the rest first year players. In our second game we played the Silver Pirates and got beat 24 to nothing. Jd never stopped coaching and preaching stay positive ,work hard and we will get better. At the end of the season we played that same team that averaged 20 points per game and was undefeated, this time we held them scoreless unitl the last min of the game the score was 6 to 0. We once again played them to get in the Championship game we once again held them to 6 points and almost won the game at the end . We were the only JV team cleanly running misdirection plays from different formations as well as the only JV team consistently completing pass plays for big yardage. Every family was so pleased with the coaching there kid received and most importantly every kid is looking forward to playing again this year. I personally had such a great experience coaching with JD and I am looking forward to coaching again this year with him.
    Thanks JD

  7. My son Tate had the opportunity to train with Coach Haglan on 7/11/14. Coach Haglan treated my son as though he was a Heisman trophy winner. Although he is just 10 years of age, he walked away with the basic fundamentals of how to properly throw the football, be a leader, and to play the quarterback position. Coach Haglan was able to coach and teach the fundamentals of the throwing motion that my son would never have the opportunity of knowing. His style and approach featured positive reinforcement that my son responded to and greatly enjoyed. My son is now committed to being a quarterback and understands the drills and proper mechanics to be one. Our experience with Coach Haglan will never be forgotten.

  8. My son Andrew had the opportunity to train with Cosch Haglan recently. From the moment coach met Andrew he treated Andrew as if he was his QB going to play in an upcoming game. Coach Haglan is committed to the fundamentals and gave Andrew some great drills that he can use everyday to improve his game. Andrew enjoyed coaches enthusiasm and knowledge of the position. We were very happy about the training and know it’s going to be a big improvement in our son’s game. Coach Haglan truly showed a great interest in Andrew’s development and success which also impressed us. We highly recommend Cosch Haglan and are excited about our next lesson.

  9. During January, 2014, Coach Haglan began working with my son, Bryce. After unexpectedly becoming the QB in his Freshman season, Bryce wanted to work with Coach Haglan in the offseason in order to actually learn the position. Coach Haglan has assisted Bryce in all facets of the position, and with his Sophomore season two weeks away, Bryce is clearly more confident. The many hours of coaching have paid off, and Bryce has developed better footwork, more touch, increased arm strength, and become better at reading defenses. Coach Haglan does a fantastic job of communicating with Bryce, and Bryce thinks very highly of him. I highly recommend JD Haglan as a QB coach for anyone wanting to excel at the position, and more importantly, Coach Haglan is a great person with a tremendous reputation in the community.
    Thanks,
    Eric Estes

  10. Coach Haglan started working with both of my sons in May of 2014. In this short 3 month span he has taught my sons many aspects about playing the quarterback position. He not only has taught them proper throwing mechanics and footwork, but also the detailed intricacies of playing the position. Coach Haglan is very motivational and works well with the boys to keep them excited about the training. Coach is very enthusiastic and gives individual attention to each and every student. I would highly recommend Coach Haglan and his coaching style to anyone interested in playing the quarterback position!

  11. My son has been training with Coach Haglan over the spring and summer months. He has received more than we could have asked for. Coach Haglan has not only taught him about being a Quarterback but about being a well-rounded kid, emphasizing the importance of the classroom and being a role model for teammates. Coach Haglan takes the time to talk to my son about what he is doing on and off the field. My son has a motivation and confidence that he did not have before. I would highly recommend Coach Haglan to anyone.

  12. Coach Haglan is a wonderful teacher and mentor. My son Anthony started out with Coach Haglan early this spring of 2014 and continues to grow as a young athlete and in his ability. He is throwing harder, more accurate and has a very tight ball when it leaves his hand. Coach Haglan is one that is not concerned about the length of time but the quality of instruction he provides. The lesson is not over when the 60 minutes expires but when Coach Haglan says “you got it”. This is why I recommend him to all young athletes because it is never about him and his precious time but 100% about the young Athlete he is working with, this is very rare in today’s world of private instruction.

Thank You for all your hard work,
    Tony

  13. When my son, Hunter, and I first met Coach Haglan at Mooresville High School, we had no idea what to expect. We have had Hunter in numerous camps before and he has also been picked as TopGun qb. This was going to be different with Coach Haglan, this was a 1 on 1. What my son has learned is amazing. Between getting his foot work and hip rotation before he even releases the ball was and still is awesome. Coach takes his time with you and makes sure you are on the same page. When Hunter releases the ball now it has a whooosh sound and is on target. He makes you think on what you are doing. We would recommend him to anyone wanting a great 1 on 1 learning experience. Looking forward to watching Hunter grow and mature into a team leading qb. Thank you again coach. See you at the games. Mike DeBerardino

  14. My son Zach has worked with Coach Haglan over the past two years. Coach Haglan has helped improve every aspect of his game. He is patient and takes the time to explain why a quarterback needs to do what he does. He has shown my son great mechanics and has helped him fine tune his footwork and other technical skills. His workouts are intense but, he is never in a hurry and he sticks with the drill until it is understood and performed correctly. You could not ask for a better QB coach and it is extremely clear that Coach Haglan loves what he is doing, and that comes across loud and clear to the kids!

  15. My 11 year old son Jaylen has been working with Coach JD and I have nothing but great things to say.
JD has improved my son mentally and physically as a complete quarterback.
He will work on every aspect of the position. He has improved Jaylens mechanics.
I definitely recommend him as a quarterback trainer.
Jaylen enjoys every work out session.

    I highly recommend JD Haglan.

  16. JD was one of our son’s coaches a year ago and he saw potential in his quarterback abilities. We set up an initial consultation which then transitioned into regular sessions. He was always flexible with our schedule as football is not our son’s only sport.

He was always encouraging and we saw more than just football skills at work, but leadership discussions, the importance of good grades and other good conversations happening while the football was being thrown.

We continue to have Jackson meet w/JD because we saw the impact of his training pay off. He was more confident, started to show up as a leader on his team, could begin to see the field in a different way and had an overall better understanding of the sport. We would recommend JD to anyone looking to improve their sons football skills.

  17. I have only been working with Coach Haglan for a couple months now and the amount of progress I have already achieved with his help is incredible. I had never played quarterback before this year and Coach Haglan did a great job of breaking down the fundamentals of playing quarterback to me. Coach Haglan completely transformed my throwing mechanics and playing the position is much more comfortable and natural now. Coach Haglan shows up every day 100 percent ready to work and motivate whoever he is working with. He is extremely dedicated to the success of everyone he works with. I will continue to work with Coach Haglan going into and during next season and I am really looking forward to it.

  18. My son Jace has been working with JD for 8 weeks. In that time I have seen a 100% improvement in his quarterback play. Everything from his throwing mechanics, footwork and decision making. JD breaks it down so that it’s easy for him to comprehend and then put those new techniques into action. JD instills confidence in his students during the training. He uses positive reinforcement the entire time. As a parent it’s great to see my son progress at the rate he has over the short time. I would recommend JD to anyone that wants to see their son improve his quarterback play.

    Thanks JD.

  19. My son Sean had always been an athletic kid. He started playing soccer at age 3 and baseball at age 4. After a particularly long baseball season, Sean decided that he was just simply done with both baseball and soccer. He didn’t love the sports any longer and wanted to try something new. He asked if he could try football. We let him try out for his middle school team thinking that there was no way he would make it unless he was the kicker (I am a soccer mom after all). He made the team as a wide receiver, and ended up starting each game. At the end of that season, his head coach approached us and asked Sean to become the quarterback for the next years team. I was scared to death. This would be only Sean’s 2nd season ever playing football, and he is being asked to be qb1?! That is when the coach suggested we call Coach Haglan.

Coach met with Sean and immediately I new that Sean was in good hands. Sean had lessons for the duration of the summer. Not only did Sean gain confidence that he has the skills to be the quarterback and leader of the offense, but Coach also gave me the knowledge that it was going to be ok. I know how the qb is treated if games do not go well, and Coach is a great supporter for the parents.

Coach and my husband also got a chance to share ‘cancer’ stories as well. My husband has melanoma and it is nice to have someone else to talk with who has gone through the same fears and victories as we have.

Thank you coach for all that you have done for Sean and our family!

  20. My son has been working with Coach JD for 2 years now and we have seen great improvement in all aspects of his QB play due to his training. As a community we are very fortunate to have Coach JD in our “backyard” to assist our young men not only with QB training but to have him as a mentor and community leader is just as powerful as his coaching abilities. Coach JD supports our Football League, BAYAA, and all of our players throughout the seasons. We are very blessed to be able to call Coach JD a Friend, Mentor, Coach and a all around great person. Thanks JD for all your support and knowledge.

  21. Although Kaden was only 6, I knew that I wanted to start him off early with lessons and give him the best opportunity in the game he was so intrigued with. From the first time he touched the ball it was evident that he had an arm, but I hoped teaching him proper mechanics before bad habits were instilled would give him a competitive edge for such a highly sought after position.

Though JD started out as a patient, it wasn’t long until we developed a close friendship…. now running on 20 plus yrs. which ironically moved onto this. Although he will always be a friend first, I can’t brag on Coach enough on how great the experience for Kaden, and really for us both, has been thus far. I admire his passion for the game and how it flows over into the coaching of my son during his sessions. Since JD is extremely organized, he is always punctual and comes to the sessions full of energy each and every time. He is fully prepared with drills and has a game plan for Kaden and for what he wants to accomplish prior to showing up. Although we are still early in Kaden’s training, JD has already taught him the basic fundamentals for the QB position starting with how to correctly grip the ball to the more difficult footwork needed to successfully elude defenders. Above all, I am impressed with his encouragement and relationship that he has developed with my son over the last few months. Kaden is always anxious for his next lesson with JD, which to me is the biggest testament of all, especially for a child Kaden’s age. I can’t believe how much Kaden has grown under JD and I think all three of us are equally excited for what is to come. Thanks JD and thanks “Coach” for all that you have done for my boy!

  22. Coach Haglan is one of the best QB coaches I have ever had the experience to learn from. I am the Head Coach and Offensive Coordinator at George Washington High School in Danville VA where we have had great success since I was hired here four years ago. JD came to our school to train our returning QBs over a six week span during our spring workouts. I learned about JD thru one of my coaches on staff and cannot thank him enough for letting me know about him. JD has a great personality and I found myself feeling like I had known him for years. Our QBs really enjoyed working with him and still to this day talk about the things they learned from him. He is truly a great teacher, which is what coaching is all about, and our QBs still remember the drills they learned from him and work on them daily.

I originally asked him here to work with our QBs, but over the six weeks I caught myself learning more fundamentals for the QB position than I had originally anticipated. He was very generous and allowed me to stand right beside the drills and learn them as the players learned them. I also asked him if he could send me notes and copies of the drills so that I could continue to work on what he had started once our summer practices began. And without hesitation he said he would. I cannot begin to explain the growth and development I have seen in our QBs since working with JD. I would definitely recommend him to anyone who is looking for someone to help with the fundamentals of their QB, unless we have to play you.

  23. I could not be more pleased with the level of instruction that JD has provided for my son Connor. We have been training with JD for about 5 months and have been able to see him grow as a QB with each session. As a high school football coach with 29 years experience on the offensive side of the ball, I can vouch for the level of knowledge that JD possesses but that is not his greatest gift. His intuition and vision when it comes to diagnosing a young players skill set and where he needs to begin working is exceptional and was spot on with my son. Connor has not only improved in his fundamentals but has begun to become self aware of when those fundamentals are starting to slip and can self correct because of the tools that JD has provided for him. JD has also begun working on Connor’s defensive recognition which will only serve to make him a more aware QB and one that can communicate with his coaches in the language that they speak. I would whole-heartedly recommend JD Haglan to any young man that aspires to become a QB.

  24. My son has played QB in a run heavy youth football offense for several years, and he has had success in those offenses….. BUT I knew, as a parent that if he wanted to continue to play the QB position that it is much more than running the ball. He needed to work on other aspects of the game and I had been given Coach JD name by several people that I trusted. When we first met coach JD it was obvious that he knew how to relate with kids. My son now asks when he is going to see coach JD again and the progress he has made is obvious to all that have watched him play previously vs where he is now. The small mechanical details that he is able to recognize, relay to the kid and correct in a short period of time validates his knowledge of the position. My son is now able to correct issues on his own because of what he has learned from JD which also shows that he is connecting with him and he is eager to improve at the position. Our team offense is now more flexible because of the things that Coach JD had taught him over the summer and we are excited to see and learn more about the position because I know that we are just getting started.

  25. My son has been working with Coach JD for a short 3 months. In this short time, I have been amazed at the growth and transformation I have witnessed. My son went from not knowing how to hold a football to throwing perfect balls and earning a starting quarterback position. I still remember when we first started working with Coach JD, I asked him if he thought my son had what it takes to play the position. His answer to me was he would do whatever it takes to teach him as long as he wanted to learn the position. From this point I was sold as he Coach JD matched our commitment in making my son a quarterback!

  26. Coach Haglan took me under his wing my Junior year of High School and helped me take my dream to the doorstep of becoming reality. Coach has been with me through every single season of my college career and has helped me train each off season. As we now train, both mentally and physically, for my upcoming Pro Day and future professional career it’s safe to say that without Coach’s guidance, determination, coaching, and advice I would have never made it this far by myself. His structured workouts have me leaving each training session with confidence as it is easy to see progression each time. I’ve been around 5 different College QB coaches, and with all due respect, none of them are on Coach Haglan’s level. I have traveled hundred’s of miles to work with QB “gurus” who are well known on social media to realize that it was a waste of time and money. Coach’s expertise is second to none in ‘every’ aspect of the Quarterback Position. And again, if it weren’t for Coach Haglan’s coaching, both mentally and physically, there would be no chance I would have made it this far.

  27. My son is a rising Sophomore QB. Since he picked up a football, I’ve been his primary team and personal coach/trainer. He’s a talented young prospect with a lot of potential. Looking for another voice, guidance, and training, I was introduced to Coach JD in March 2018. Working with Coach JD has been a blessing and an immediate impact, as we’ve seen improvements in his mechanics, footwork, and football IQ. The work the two of them put in was evident and definitely allowed my son to stand out at several June 2018 football camps. My son is excited about his progress and looks forward to continued success with Coach JD. I appreciate the relationship and your role in my sons development.

  28. It is impossible to exaggerate the talents of Coach JD. His ability to connect with young athletes, and his knowledge of the fundamentals of the game of football come together as a powerful force for learning. JD listens, teaches, and inspires his students to reach for more with everything they do. When it comes to the technical improvements I have seen in my son, the results speak for themselves. In just a few months Coach JD has turned a WR into a QB. The passer that I see on the field today is unrecognizable to what existed before he first worked with Coach. Additionally, every week I witness the joy, passion, and fortitude with which my son attacks every practice session with Coach JD, he truly looks forward to each lesson and never sees it as a burden. Coach JD is easy to communicate with and goes out of his way to be flexible. My son has been extremely fortunate to have the chance to work with him.

  29. My son is ten years old and plays on a competitive youth football team. For the upcoming season, he will be taking over as QB. I knew that my son had the strength to throw the ball but what he was weak in was technique. There would be times he would throw the ball more side-armed and I knew if that wasn’t corrected soon it would lead to bad habits and shoulder injuries. My son was shy at first when working with Coach JD but he quickly became more comfortable due to JD’s ability to relate to young kids. JD is positive and encouraging and will praise my child when he does something well. JD also keeps my son focused when his mind starts to wander. My son has only been working with JD a short time but has made great progress. If you are looking for quality instruction in a positive atmosphere then look no further.

  30. I have been coaching high school and college players for 41 years and no one I know has a developmental program like yours. The improvement that I have seen in my quarterbacks who have trained with you is second to none, so fundamentally sound. Your program is awesome; keep turning young men into better quarterbacks.

  31. Coach Haglan has helped me with so many things in my life. He’s been in my life since I was in 7th grade, he’s helped me get my game to where it is today and he helps me continue to get better. I wouldn’t have made it to be a college Quarterback if he wouldn’t have shown me how to even get the right way to hold and throw the ball to all the right footwork that goes into it.

  32. My son is entering his junior year in high school and has been working with Coach JD for the past nine months. I am extremely thrilled that my son has had the opportunity work with Coach JD. He is a super individual that relates well to his students. He has a real knowledge and desire to teach football. Coach works to instill the proper mechanics and develope physical aspects of a quarterback . Also, he works to develop the QB mentality, coach and leader on the field. My son really appreciates the opportunity, thanks coach!!

  33. My son Peter came to JD to learn how to throw a football and he has received so much more. Coach Haglan’s knowledge of the game from the quarterback position is second to none. He is the most knowledgeable QB coach that I’ve met and spent time with. I personally have coached football in the HS ranks down to youth leagues for over 25 years and have met lots of talented QB coaches. JD’s knowledge from hand grip, to footwork to coaching and teaching the mental aspect of the game including being a good person and leader is top notch. His ability to connect to my son and others whether they are 8 years old or a senior in HS is pretty special. Coach has a way of teaching and getting the most out of all his pupils in a special way. If your son is looking for the total package and looking to get better on the football field as a QB and becoming a better leader and person. There is nobody better in the teaching game than Coach Haglan. My son will continue his journey with him as long as he strives to be a better QB. Thank you coach and I look forward to seeing you for many years to come.

  34. After searching several months for a QB coach for my son Trey, I asked Bandys coach Tom Eanes who he would recommend. He told me without hesitation that Coach JD was no doubt the best QB coach for Trey to work with. I had researched other more expensive QB trainers in the area, and I am extremely grateful I was given Coach JD’s info. I am 100% positive he has been the right choice.

Trey has been working with Coach JD for 10 months, and I have seen a transformation in Trey’s throwing mechanics, increased velocity, and increased awareness. Coach JD not only teaches how to play QB; he also shares valuable wisdom that Trey will be able to utilize for the rest of his life.

Coach JD is TOP NOTCH!!! Thank you!

  35. We started using JD to train my son how to be a quarterback in 5th grade. I can tell you that it was the best sports decision we’ve ever made with any of our children.

I cannot speak more highly about JD than any coach I’ve ever encountered or worked with. Not only has he been an unbelievable quarterback coach but he is one of the most genuine and nicest people I have ever grown to know.

My son’s footwork and arm/body mechanics are phenomenal today because of what JD has taught him since he was young. JD has the unusual ability to be able to work with both young children and older quarterbacks. Now that my son is in 9th grade, he is able to fine-tune his training with Coach JD which gives my son the peace of mind he needs.

JD has taught my son how to self-assess his own mechanics now. I look forward to the next stage in my son’s quarterback timeline, which will most likely turn to reading defenses.

JD knows how to keep it fun and interesting for the kids and when to go in-depth for the teenagers.

I could not possibly recommend any quarterback coach more than JD Haglan. I really mean that. We have worked with other quarterback coaches and it is just not the same.

I would be happy to talk to any parent about my experiences with JD. That’s how pleased we have been.

  36. Coach Haglan was recommended to me by several people after they saw my young son playing youth football. Skeptical if this would really benefit my son, we were allowed to sit in on a session before we committed. A decision I do NOT regret.

In a year’s time, my son’s knowledge and skills have improved tenfold. Coach Haglan has expanded his fundamentals of the game and taught him better motion, better release point, better form, better ball grip, better ball placement, how to move around in the pocket, and how to better read the defense. Coach Haglan has also taught him to be a leader on and off the field.

His encouragement is outstanding. He understands mistakes will happen, and doesn’t show anger towards my child. He is a genuinely a nice guy having fun with what he does.

However, above all the knowledge my son has learned, the most important aspect is that my son is having FUN! It isn’t a chore for him. He loves going to practice and learn with Coach Haglan. This is something he wants to do, and he thoroughly enjoys it. From a parent’s perspective that is what matters most.

Thank you Coach Haglan. We look forward to working with you for years to come.
